Olympos

Olympos

In the course of my life I have done 3 good paintings, of which this is one (and the third is with some provision). The other good painting is Obastel, and the provisionally good painting is The Sound of Dogs Barking. I'm not sure when I painted Olympos, probably just before the Morgan period.

Olympos University is perched on a clifftop on the edge of the island of Dancing Chicken in a Plastic Bag. Malchevan's experiments that led to the creation of the copes, described in Copes 1 to Copes 7 (see Hellfire 2) were conducted in a subterranean lab in the rock beneath Olympos University.

This is another from my "tracing period" (see Miras Exterior 1 in Miras for explanation). In this case it was the fish that were traced from a book.

I tinkered with other designs for the clifftop university, but haven't arrived yet at one I would consider an improvement. The flying saucer shape at the back is actually the top of a library shaped like an inverted Turritella shell, built into the steep hillside at the rear of the university, inspired by the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The red rocket on the launchpad is actually a rocket, used primarily for transporting staff and students to and from the university's small research facility in orbit over Owel.
