Possibly an early portrayal of Milae. Before she lost her wings and got younger. From the same piece of paper as Myrdemmon's Hideaway 1 (see Myrdemmon), that is, early art school. Milae's wings were removed by the inhabitants of Newgrove to prevent her flying away.

Aside from Elbeth and Milae and possibly one other, the only other images of Elbeth I have to date are these thumbnail sketches from the same piece of paper as Milae 0 above. Some ideas I had in mind for Elbeth I ended up using for Newanda (see Cairnsa and Newanda 1 to Cairnsa and Newanda 10 in Zulu and Newanda).

From the same piece of paper as Elbeth above. Elbeth was a lone, wandering scholar in Miras who happened upon Newgrove. When she left Newgrove, Provetan, Milae and Myrdemmon went with her.

Milae in the Underworld 1

When Elbeth disappeared with Cairnsa, Milae went looking for her, and found her way to the vast caverns of Cairnsa's underworld. In the above image we see Milae crawling out of the water onto a narrow strip of sand, next to an opening to another subterranean cavern.

Milae did encounter Cairnsa's people-eating monster, and would have been eaten by it if she had not managed to crawl past it into the pipe out of which it came. She crawled up the long pipe, emerging into the chamber from which the monster originated.

Milae found a way out of the chamber that was too small for the monster to follow her.



Cairnsa's Monster

Cairnsa's other monster, the one that lives in the pipe at the end of the ravine (seen in Cairnsa and Newanda 3 in Zulu and Newanda). It is not a sex monster (like the one seen in Cairnsa and Newanda 10 in Zulu and Newanda). It is an old-style "eating people" monster.



Cairnsa's Fortress

Cairnsa's fortress was on a mountain, in a pit, in an island, in a lake of magma, in an enormous cavern deep underground.

A few weeks apart. This occurred in the period between the Morgan period and the Newanda period. The first occasion included a vision of the ouroboros, which may go some way toward explaining the persistence of the Ouroboros section of The Scientific Creation Myth article in From Particles to Angels . The second occasion is what I call "The Spiral Freakout". The content of each is easily traceable to the reading I was doing at the time. I've never successfully drawn the ouroboros vision, but this Adam and Eve picture is derived from it. The idea is that the material universe is composed of the body of the Ouroboros serpent which has neither a tail nor a head. Bay

The second of the three comic strips I did in art school (see Ziks ) was the tale of Bay Bronte Woonda, who had been sent on a mission by General Deathsheads to destroy a planet.
